Launch menu Services Reset IIS resets Internet Information Server (stops it and starts it again).

 

The session is not discarded when IIS is reset.

 

 

Stopping IIS

 

Launch menu Services Stop IIS stops Internet Information Server.

 

The session is not discarded when IIS is stopped.
