Check for software updates

The Check for software updates functionality is only available in full product and beta versions of C++ Bug Validator. Evaluation versions do not have the ability to update C++ Bug Validator.

 

To make C++ Bug Validator check for update choose the Check for software updates command on the Tools menu.

C++ Bug Validator will contact the servers at Software Verify and determine if a software update is available.

 

Software Updates

If a software update is available for C++ Bug Validator you will shown the software update dialog.

You have three options:

Download and install the software update

Do not download (you will be prompted on future occasions)

Do not download and never be informed about this version again.

 

You can also edit the software update schedule or manage your software maintenance.

 

If you choose to download and install the software update you will be asked for your login credentials for C++ Bug Validator. You will have received these when you purchased C++ Bug Validator.

You will only be asked for your login credentials if C++ Bug Validator does not know them.

 

When your login credentials have been verified the download will begin. You will see a progress dialog. You can abandon the download at any time.

Once the software update is downloaded C++ Bug Validator will close and the installer will run. After the installer completes C++ Bug Validator will start again.

 

Software Maintenance Expired

If the software maintenance period has expired you will not be able to automatically update C++ Bug Validator. You will be shown the software update maintenance expiry dialog.

You have the option to manage your software maintenance or quit receiving software updates.

 

Software Update Schedule

C++ Bug Validator can automatically check to see if a new version of C++ Bug Validator is available for downloading.

 

The options are:

Never check for updates

Check for updates every day

Check for updates once a week

Check for updates once a month

 

The default is to check for updates every day.

 

The Software update schedule dialog also displays the date of the most recent check for updates.

Managing Software Maintenance

If you choose to manage your software maintenance a web browser will be opened and you will be logged into the customer only section of the website using your login credentials for C++ Bug Validator.

You will be presented with options for renewing your software maintenance.
