Ruby Bug Validator Tutorial

This document is intended to augment the information in the Ruby Bug Validator Help file. If you have not read the help file we encourage you to do so. Ruby Bug Validator is a powerful and complex product, reading the help manual will help you use Ruby Bug Validator more efficiently.

Ruby Bug Validator is an analysis tool that can analyse running applications and also analyse the encoded logs created by Ruby Bug Validator Client.

Example Application

The example application is rbvExample.rb in the rbvExample folder in the installation folder.

How to use Ruby Bug Validator

  1. Start Ruby Bug Validator.

  2. Start the application using Ruby Bug Validator's launch program option.

    The launch application wizard displayed.

    Launch Dialog

    Select the application using the Browse... button. Click the Go ! button. The application will start and Ruby Bug Validator will start to monitor the application. Ruby Bug Validator will display a progress dialog box whilst it is attaching to the application.

  3. Use the application as normal.

  4. When an error occurs or the application crashes, click the Refresh button on Ruby Bug Validator.

  5. Save the the log using the Save option on the File menu.
